During a Tuesday matinee, thanks to AMC’s Stubs membership card, I scored a $5 ticket and joined the ranks of one of the last few people to get on board and see Bohemian Rhapsody. If you didn’t know, Bohemian Rhapsody is a biopic that can’t help but be a musical about the life and times of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the rock group, Queen, before he passed away in 1991.
Without spoiling the film for you, I’d like to share a few key quotes that I think apply to life and business which I snagged from the film script. These quotes are also highlighted in a movie review featured in the The Grind Scheme podcast titled, “Finding the Love of YOUR Life | Bohemian Rhapsody Movie Review.” The podcast acknowledges the recent celebration of Valentine’s Day but most of all recognizes that becoming the highest expression of ourselves begins with a certain unapologetic level of self confidence, affirmation or self love as some call it.
2 Life Changing Quotes from Bohemian Rhapsody
Here are the quotes that highlight this theme of self love and appreciation that comes from self invention. In the scene quoted below, Freddie’s girlfriend is asking a question after he’s returned from a series of performances which are the result of Queen’s newfound success.
What I’d like you to pay special attention to is the theme of self invention and it’s relationship to fear or I should say, courage.
What was it like singing for all those people? When I know they're listening... when I know I really have them... I couldn't sing off-key if I tried. I'm exactly the person I was always meant to be. I'm not afraid of anything. Full script available at: http://bit.ly/FullBohemianRhapsodyScript
(In this next scene, Freddie’s just shared with his band, his terminal disease and he then proceeds to share with them how he’d like for them to handle it.
Next worthy quote:
For right now... it's between us. All right? Just us. So, please... if any of you... fuss about it or frown about it, or, worst of all... if you bore me with your sympathy... that's just seconds wasted. Seconds that could be used making music... which is all I want to do with the time I have left. I don't have time to be their victim... their AIDS poster boy, their cautionary tale. No, I decide who I am. I'm going to be what I was born to be. A performer... who gives the people what they want. Touch of the heavens. Freddie fucking Mercury. (Some yells) You're a legend, Fred. You're bloody right I am. We're all legends. But you're right, I am a legend. Full Script available at - http://bit.ly/FullBohemianRhapsodyScript
